Here is further information for the COVID Screening process for the beginning of the 21-22 school year at Glencairn Public School. Please read it carefully.

All students returning to in-person learning are expected to continue to complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener daily before attending school. Those who receive the “Go to school” message may attend and those who receive the “Do not go to school” outcome from the screener cannot attend school and should follow the Return to School guidance offered on the end-page of the screener. 

For the first day of school (September 7), we will welcome students to school and parents will be asked to verbally confirm with the teacher or DECE that the screening has taken place. If you are not coming to the school with your child, please send a note confirming that the screener indicated “Go to school”. Staff will do a screening for any students without parent verification of screening and the office will then need to connect with parents on Tuesday to review the process.

Starting on Wednesday, September 8 the following process will begin.

Screening Verification for Elementary Students

  1. The parent/guardian will complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener for their child before the beginning of each school day. For those without access to the website, the PDF Form  is available. This PDF version is available in several languages.
  2. If the screening tool indicates that the child may go to school, the parent/guardian will initial next to the appropriate date on the WRDSB Student Screening Confirmation Form and give the form to their child to bring to school. The Screening Confirmation Form will be provided to students to take home on Tuesday and it will used for the week.
  3. School staff will verify that the form has been initialed.

Before and After School Programs

Staff will verbally confirm with parents upon arrival in the Before and After School program that they have completed the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener for themselves and their child. Parents are permitted to enter the school to drop off or pick up their child in Before and After School programs.

Staff will confirm that the WRDSB Student Screening Confirmation Form is complete and/or provide a paper copy to the family to complete if needed. The completed form will remain with the student.
