Good afternoon Glencairn families,

We are welcoming Glencairn students back to in-person learning on Monday, January 17. Please read the important information below to prepare for returning to Glencairn.

Ontario School Screening

All students returning to in-person learning are expected to continue to complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener daily before attending school. It is found on the school website https://gcp.wrdsb.ca by clicking the red button “Ontario School Screening”.

On the screener, those who receive the green “Go to school” message may attend and those who receive the red  “Do not go to school” outcome from the screener cannot attend school and should follow the Next Steps guidance offered on the end-page of the screener.

If the screening tool indicates that your child may go to school, please adjust a date on the pink forms we sent before break and  initial on the WRDSB Student Screening Confirmation Form and give the form to your child to bring to school. You may also print a new form using the above link.

For the first day of in-person school after the break (January 17), we will welcome students to school by accepting verbal confirmation of “Go to School” screening.

We will send home new paper copies of the WRDSB Student Screening Confirmation Form  on Jan 17, 2022 to use for two weeks.  The form will remain with the student and be completed each morning before coming to school to allow for daily verification.

The screening forms and other COVID information are found in several different languages at: https://www.wrdsb.ca/our-schools/health-and-wellness/public-health-information/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-information/multilingual-resources/

The WRDSB has an obligation to follow social gathering requirements set out by the Government of Ontario. Please limit your time,  social distance and wear a mask on school property.

Return of Devices

For those families that borrowed a device (Chromebook, iPad) during January: These devices and cords must be returned to your child’s homeroom/school when schools reopen on Monday, January 17.

These devices are used daily in our classrooms and we require them back to ensure students continue to have a rich learning environment.

Before and after school programs (Extended Day Programs)

The program will also reopen on January 17, 2022.

Staff will verbally confirm with parents upon arrival in the Before and After School program that they have completed the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener for themselves and their child. Parents and caregivers are permitted to enter the school to drop off or pick up their child in Before and After School programs.

Staff will confirm that the WRDSB Student Screening Confirmation Form is complete and/or provide a paper copy to the family to complete if needed. The completed form will remain with the student and will be shown to the classroom teacher as well.

Photo Retake Day – January 20, 2022

Edge Imaging will be taking photos of students who were absent for Photo Day in the fall.  If you were not happy with the original photo proof, please send a note with your child to have retakes.

After Photo Retake Day, the photography company will send proofs to the school. In the proof package, parents will have an online code to view more background options and order. You can select “Ship to home” or to the “Ship to school” option.

PD Day – January 21, 2022

Friday, January 21, 2022 is a professional development day for educators. There will be no school for students next Friday.

Short Term Virtual Learning

A Short Term Virtual Learning option is available.  To access the Short Term Virtual Learning Option, please reach out to the office and the administrator will explain it to you and send a Short Term Virtual Learning form to be completed and signed by parents.

Additional Information

As more information is available to support families, we will continue to share it on the school website (gcp.wrdsb.ca) and through School Day.

Sincerely,

Ms. Meredith – Principal
