A Message from Ms. Elmslie!

Dear Glencairn Community, 

Today all of the students enjoyed ‘Play Day’ organized by Ms. Brown and the grade 6 team. Thank you to the organizing team! It was great to see such student collaboration and enjoyment! Way to go, Grey Jays! 

Our first pizza day will be Friday, October 25. Pizza days will continue every other Friday throughout the school year.  Pizza will be provided from Domino’s. Orders can be placed on School-Day under the “Products” menu. 

Pizza lunches are a favourite among students and we don’t want anyone to feel left out. This year, Glencairn is exploring a “Pizza For All” option!

If you are a family that would like to support our initiative and help cover the cost of subsidized lunches for students in our school, you may make a financial donation in two ways.

  • Donations made through WEFI will receive a tax receipt https://www.wrdsb.ca/wefi/donate/ specify “Glencairn” in the fund box.
  • Donations made through School-Day will NOT receive a tax receipt.  Log into your School-Day account, select “services” from the menu, adjust the price box to the desired amount, add to cart and check out.

If you would like to request support for your student(s) to receive pizza lunches at a reduced cost or no cost, please email Erin Young in the office at: erin_e_young@wrdsb.ca and indicate: 

  • Your student’s name, homeroom class and teacher name
  • Your student’s pizza order (cheese or pepperoni) and how many slices of pizza

The school will continue with this order throughout the school year or until you inform us to stop providing pizza to your student(s).

Glencairn’s School Council is looking to gather a little more information from you to best serve the community of Glencairn. Please complete this form when you are able to offer the group  information about your hopes and wishes for the School Council this year. The next School Council meeting is October 9, 2024 all are welcome!

This Saturday October 5, 2024 is ‘World Teacher Day’. Glencairn is fortunate to be home to outstanding teachers who care about their students and do a tremendous job in moving their learning forward. I am very proud to work alongside this talented group of professionals!
