A Message from Ms. Elmslie!
Dear Glencairn Community,
This week started with a special Remembrance Day assembly to honour veterans and those impacted by war prepared and presented by our student body. Thank you to Madelle Cable and Ms. Gillespie for leading our students in their performances including singing, poems, tableaux and a video. Thank you to the students in the following classes for their hard work and participation in our assembly: K2, 2/3A and 2A/3B, 3A and 4A, 4/5A and 6A. A very special thank you to Clara and Emma who served as the assembly’s hosts and Nana and Logan who offered technical support.
We are looking forward to our “Friends and Family” Winter Concert on Thursday December 19, 2024!
Students participated in practicing how to exit a bus safely on Friday should there ever be a concern while riding a bus.
Next week we are really looking forward to visits from the Humane Society on Tuesday and Wednesday. This activity has become a fall tradition at Glencairn and the students love learning about the animals and how to safely interact with them. Thank you to Ms. Herlick for organizing this experience for our students.
Please mark Friday as a special day in your calendars next week as it is hero day and pizza day! Students are welcome to come dressed as their favourite hero on Friday. They should be prepared to explain why their hero is a hero to them!
Finally, Progress Reports come home with students on Monday. Please remember that the Progress Report is a ‘snapshot’ of a student’s learning towards end of year learning expectations at this time. Thank you to Glencairn teachers who spent a lot of time and effort writing Progress Reports to communicate student achievement and student learning skills to families.
