December 5th, 2025
To mark National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on Saturday, December 6, flags at all Ontario government buildings, including Waterloo Region District School Board schools and worksites, will be flown at half-mast at the end of the day today until we open on Monday, December 8.
Every year, we remember the 14 female engineering students who were murdered at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989 by an act of gender-based violence. We also commemorate the missing and murdered Indigenous women, the trans-women, and each and every woman and girl in Canada and across the world whose lives have been harmed or lost to gender-based violence.
