A Message from Ms. Elmslie!
Some of you may have seen us practicing our spring safety drills! So far this week we ran through the tornado drill and one fire drill. There will be 2 more fire drills this spring.
On another safety note, Glencairn is home to the Extended Day before and after school program. The students use the large creative after the end of the school day as part of their activities. When Extended Day students and their educators use the large creative it is not open to the community. Please be mindful of this consideration and respectful to the program educators when they remind you of this after school.
On Earth Day, Wednesday April 22, 2026 Ms. Monette and Ms. Bird organized our school for an Earth Day clean up of our school grounds. It was a beautiful spring day. Thank you to all of the students and educators for caring for our school!
On Friday, May 1, 2026 Glencairn will be taking part in Jump Rope for Heart. Jump Rope for Heart is an opportunity for students to learn about and engage in healthy habits. The event focuses on the importance of staying active, eating well and taking care of your heart and brain health.
During the week leading up to the event (Monday April 27 – Friday May 1) we will be collecting loonies, toonies or any spare change you are able to donate. The funds our school raises will help support important heart and brain research funded by Heart & Stroke.
Let’s work together as a school community to get active and support the Heart and Stroke Foundation!

The WRDSB 2026 Student Census is still open. If you have a child (or children) enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 3 and you have not yet completed the Student Census, there is still time!
Parents/caregivers will have received a reminder email with a unique survey link for your child/children on April 20, 2026. The email had the subject line “REMINDER – you are invited to complete the WRDSB 2026 Student Census!”
We encourage all interested parents/caregivers to complete the Census by May 8, 2026. If you have any questions about the Student Census process, please visit the Student Census website, or contact the WRDSB Research Department at research@wrdsb.ca.

- Each grade level will be assigned a specific colour of the rainbow. When the school gathers for an assembly, the gym will look like a rainbow!
