A Message from Ms. Elmslie!

Dear Glencairn Community,

This is the first ‘official’ fall message! Happy fall everyone.

Students are invited to wear orange on Monday September 30, 2024 to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation if they are able. All students will be offered an ‘Orange Shirt Day’ sticker to mark the day. There has been a lot of learning about the day, and why it is recognized (in age appropriate ways), with Ms. Elmslie and other Glencairn educators.

Glencairn has completed the fall round of Emergency Drills. The students have done a tremendous job of practicing in the event of an emergency and should be very proud of themselves. The fire alarm bell can be loud and scary for some of us!

Highlighting the efforts of 4/5A this week! Grade 4’s used KNEX to create pulleys and gears, while grade 5’s constructed strong and stable structures using newspapers and painter’s tape. They also worked in small groups to create detailed print maps of a fictional kingdom! 4/5A continues to show Grey Jay’s character trait of NEVER GIVING UP as they dig deeper into some challenging  junior learning!

Our school community is invited to Waterloo to hear guest speaker, Paul Davis, speak about internet safety:

Laurelwood Public School is excited to invite you to an informative guest speaker presentation on Internet Safety and Social Media on Monday, September 30, at 6:00 pm.
